Book Of The Month
In the thirty years since its original publication, Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind has become one of the great modern Zen classics, much beloved, much re-read, and much recommended as the best first book to read if you are interested in Zen. There are many beautiful overlaps between Yoga and Zen - namely an emphasis placed on practice rather than intellectual understanding.
Yoga: Abhyasa (steady effort) and Vairagya (non-attachment)
Zen: Zazen (just sitting), direct experience
Both say: don’t think your way to freedom — practice your way there.
