Book Club

Join us for Book Club! Each month we’ll explore a new book chosen to inspire, both on and off the mat.

In October we will be reading: The Ashtavakra Gita

I recommend the translation by Bart Marshall. 🤓

Sage Ashtavakra was born with eight physical deformities, a result of a curse from his father. The Sanskrit word Ashtavakra translates to "one having eight bends".  This philosophical text is a cornerstone of the Advaita Vedanta school of Hindu thought. It's structured as a dialogue between the sage Ashtavakra and King Janaka of Mithila. The Gita explores the concept of Brahman (the universal reality) and emphasizes that all beings are part of this singular, unified whole.

All are welcome, even if you didn’t quite get around to reading the whole book. :)

We’ll have tea and something to munch on. Feel free to bring a snack to share!
